Food Bank For New York City was founded in 1983 with the goal to get large quantities of food to local organizations serving the poor throughout the five boroughs. During our first year, the Food Bank distributed 500,000 pounds of food to 95 food assistance programs. Today, as the city's major supplier of food to a network more than 1,000 programs, the Food Bank procures, store and distributes more than 50 million of pounds of food every year - helping to provide 300,000 free meals a day for New Yorkers in need. |

Share Our Strength® is a national organization working to make sure no kid in America grows up hungry. We weave together a net of community groups, activists and food programs to catch children at risk of hunger and ensure they have nutritious food where they live, learn and play.
