Description:

My friend Ellyn gave me this recipe when I was just married.  They say that the recipe is actually Katharine Hepburn’s.  One thing that I know for sure. It makes brownies that are really chocolaty, delicious, and chewy! One of my best friends insists on them for her birthday instead of a cake.

Ingredients:

2 squares unsweetened chocolate

1 stick butter

¼ cup flour

1 cup sugar

2 eggs beaten

1 cup chopped walnuts

¼ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon vanilla

Preparation:

Melt chocolate and butter together in a saucepan.  Stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla; and beat mixture well.  Then stir in flour, salt and walnuts.  Pour into a buttered and floured 8 inch square pan and bake in preheated oven at 325° for 40 minutes.
