Viennese food is very good, but it consists of a lot of meat and I found myself seeking out other cuisines after a few days in the city. We had noticed a lot of Italian restaurants while walking around town and we asked our hotel concierge for a relatively affordable one to try out. He directed us to Sole.

We ordered a pasta dish and a meat dish.

This is the spaghetti carbonara, which was absolutely fantastic. I am particularly fond of this dish and Sole's version was on par with the places I had tried in Rome. I have yet to find anything comparable in NYC.

This was the special of the day. It is a veal marsala sprinkled with sliced almonds on top, served with roasted potatoes and a vegetable medley. This dish was also exceptional. The veal was moist and perfectly cooked, while the almonds added a subtle touch to the overall flavor.
Sole was a surprise hit. It was also relatively affordable, while rivaling the quality of Italian restaurants that cost twice as much in NYC. I heartily recommend Sole for anyone who has a hankering for Italian food while in Vienna.
Sole is located at Annagasse 8, Vienna 1010, Austria
