Ingredients:

3 to 3 1/2 cups of flour
1 package dry yeast
2 teaspoons dried celery flakes
2 teaspoons dry parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons shortening
2 teaspoons onion salt till warm
1 egg

 

Preparation:

In large mixer bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups of flour, 1 package dry yeast, 2 teaspoons dried celery flakes, 2 teaspoons dry parsley flakes, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme. In saucepan, heat 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons shortening, and 2 teaspoons onion salt till warm, stirring constantly to melt shortening. Add to dry mixture. Add 1 egg. Beat at low speed for a half minute, scraping bowl.

Beat 3 minutes at high speed. By hand, stir in 1-1/2 to 2 cups all purpose flour to make a moderately soft dough. Knead on lightly floured surface till smooth (5 - 8 minutes). Shape into ball. Place in greased bowl, turning once. Cover. Let rise in warm place till double (about 1 hour). Punch down. Cover, let rest 10 minutes. Shape into round loaf. Place in greased 9 inch pie plate. Cover & let rise till double (30 - 45 minutes). Bake at 375 degrees until done, 30 to 35 minutes.
