We'll be in Ghent, Antwerpen and Paris in the near future. Any recommendations for good, reasonably priced meals? Any markets or shops we should not miss? We're staying between the Pantheon and Luxenborg Gardens, 5th or 6th, I'm not sure. Thanks so much, Madelyn

A friend of mine who lived in Paris for a couple years says that "Chartier is an old school do not miss. Parisians eat there not tourists."

That is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris. I was a student right next to the Luxembourg Gardens many years ago. On the Boulevard Montparnasse, the Select Latin and La Coupole which have been Parisian meeting places forver are still great if more expensive. The Closerie de Lilas is more expensive but very beautiful. Brasserie Balzar on Rue des Ecoles is not exactly what it once was but the potage and roast chicken are still great and they are the same waiters. The Petit Saint Benot is right by the Eglise Saint Germain de Pres and is an old-fashioned French bistro. Have fun!
