Wild Rice Burgers
1 pound lean ground pork
1 cup cooked wild rice
1 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt or seasoned salt
4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
Sliced sweet onion (optional)
Cooked bacon slices (optional)
Dill pickle (optional)
Sliced tomatoes (optional)
Shredded lettuce (optional)
Colby and Monterey Jack cheese slices (optional)
Mayonnaise, catsup, and/or mustard (optional)
Combine pork, wild rice, pepper, and salt in a mixing bowl. Mix well. Shape into four 3/4-inch-thick patties.
For a charcoal grill, place patties on the grill rack directly over medium coals. Grill, uncovered, for 14 to 18 minutes or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a patty registers 160 degrees F, turning once.
For a gas grill, preheat grill. Reduce heat to medium. Place patties on the grill rack; cover and grill as above.
Serve on buns topped with your choice of condiments.
